our team
The BL&A team comprises over 15 staff, including Zoologists,
Botanists and GIS Analysts. The team includes seven botanists and zoologists
with greater than 10 years’ experience, with the balance of the team having
at least three to five year’s experience. Our Senior Ecologists can provide
strong project management and client liaison. The depth of our expertise
and experience makes us one of the leading ecological consultancies in south
eastern Australia.
For any project we undertake, we appoint a designated project manager from among our senior team to help you plan work and to assist you with the associated regulatory processes, working closely with your project manager, planning consultant and/or legal team.
Together, our team has many decades of experience, including knowledge in the following disciplines:
- Terrestrial plant and animal identification;
- Vegetation mapping and assessment;
- Fauna survey methods;
- Environmental management techniques;
- Interpretation and application of environmental laws and policies;
- Fauna translocation;
- Ecological monitoring and modelling; and
- Regulator liaison.
All of our field staff have graduate degrees and, in many cases,
post-graduate qualifications in ecology and environmental science. They all
undergo certified First Aid and 4WD training and are covered by relevant
state permits and licenses required to carry out flora and fauna field work.
Our staff also undertake regular training to maintain up-to-date knowledge
in relevant disciplines. All our botanists have Victorian DSE Habitat Hectare
Assessment Certificates of Competency. We have access to botanists in NSW
accredited to undertaken biobanking assessments.
BL&A also works closely with specialist consultants in Aquatic Ecology, Statistics and Mathematical Modelling, and Cultural Heritage Assessment, as well as a number of recognised Bushland Revegetation and Management Contractors.
